About PDC

Peoples Development Community (PDC) is a national NGO working with several sectors and many parts of Bangladesh since 2003 for different vulnerable and marginalized community. PDC working with pioneering role in sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention strategies in collaboration with Government, donors, INGOs, research & academic institutions and civil societies. It has been working with other organizations for advocacy and campaign to establish the human and legal rights, minimizing discrimination and stigma among the vulnerable and marginalized community. PDC also addressing violence against women, empowerment and community development issues. PDC started with its mission for contributing to reduce the violation of human rights to poor specially women and marginalized groups of the community through advocacy, community mobilization and community empowerment and thrives for Bangladesh where all sectors contribute to uphold human rights and the people, specifically women of all level living dignity, justice and social rights.
PDC has a seven member executive committee that comprises with Executive Director, 2 Directors and 4 members. The executive committee elected by the general members of the organization among themselves.
The Executive Director leads the organizational management and projects that are implemented by PDC. A group of advisors consist of technical experts in different fields related to respective project issues provide supports in project management and program development. Each project is managed by respective project staffs headed by respective Project Coordinator/Team Leader. Over all general management and procurements manage by separate team headed by respective departmental Head.

The organization is registered under the Society Registration Act XXI 1860 of Bangladesh Government, Registration No. S-3075(40), NGO affairs bureau registration No – 2358.

Peoples Development Community (PDC) has 10 years of work experience. PDC have experience of managing a single contract amounting taka 5, 64, 81,264.00 (five core sixty four lac eighty one thousand two hundred sixty four only) as described above. PDC handled a total of Taka 11,00,60,592.00 in the last three years funded by mainly GFATM through Save the Children Fund USA, Ministry Health and Family Welfares , World Bank.

General Administration:

  • PDC has a seven member executive committee that comprises with Executive Director, 2 Directors and 4 Members.
  • Executive Committee elected by the general members of the organization.
  • Executive Committee is responsible for policymaking and over all controlling.
  • Executive Director is the Head of the Organization and responsible for over all administrative, management and policy issues and represents Organization in different forums
  • A group of advisors consist of technical experts in different fields related to respective project issues provide supports in project development and implementation.
  • Each project is managed by an expert staff team headed by respective Team Leader/Project Manager/Coordinator.
  • Over all general support services and procurements manage by separate team headed by Finance & Admin Officer.
Financial management:
  • A Director is Responsible for Overall Financial Management.
  • A Qualified Staff Team Maintains Organizational Accounts Headed by A Finance & Admin Officer.
  • Organization Bank Account is Operated by Joint Signatures of Executive Director and A Director.
  • EC Approve All Finance Related Policies and Major Expenditures.
  • Separate Accounts Maintained for The Projects Funded by Different Donors.
  • All Procurements Need Prior Approval by the Respective Procurement Committee.
  • The Total Annual Budget of PDC Was Taka 38,127,000 for the year ended 30th June 2012 Funded Mainly by Global Fund, World Bank, Ministry of Health and Family Welfares.

Specific experience and capacity:

  • Designing and Implementation of Mapping Exercise, RSA and Research
  • Designing and implementing projects on HIV and AIDS, STIs, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights
  • Designing and implementing program on Family planning, health and nutrition among community population
  • Post literacy and continuing education, Education System (skills, structural and environment facilities)
  • Designing training module and curriculum and facilitating training
  • Planning and delivering peer based outreach services, clinical services, DIC services among marginalized population like female sex workers and their children
  • Clinical Service among community people on Reproductive Health and Family Planning including MCH, antenatal and postnatal care and safe delivery services
  • Child safety and child rights
  • Trafficking and cross boarder issue
  • Organizing social marketing of reproductive health commodities including condom among female sex workers
  • Planning and implementing advocacy activities for female sex workers and their children’s human rights, protecting stigma and discrimination and reducing violence against female sex workers, protecting trafficking and underage sex trade.
  • Creating enabling environment for appropriate implementations of project activities among marginalized population like female sex workers
  • Provision of life skills development, adult education, vocational training for alternative livelihood scopes among female sex workers
